Resigning and still holding on to hope…

Since the end of April there have been no new posts on this site. I’ve taken such a break before, and at that time the reason was quite dramatic. This time it is far less dramatic on a personal level — Tatiana and I are happier together than we ever could have hoped for — but when it comes to calling and work, there certainly is “an issue”:
Last Monday, on December 22, I submitted my letter of resignation to the Council of Bread of Life, effective at the end of March.
This is not something that happens overnight. As tensions began to develop from May onwards, it became increasingly difficult to write joyful stories here, knowing that they could be overtaken by reality at any moment.
In May, it still seemed purely organizational — revolving around financial management, where I saw the need for more control but was constrained by the existing structure. Gradually, however, two distinct directions became visible within the organization. Unfortunately, over the past two to three months, I have had to conclude that I — together with my team in Poznań — represented a different direction than the Council, which ultimately has the final say.
And when such a significant difference in perspective arises regarding the structure and growth of an organization, consequences are inevitable. I write this with a heavy heart, and partly also with a sense of incomprehension, as I stand wholeheartedly behind my vision…
But also with gratitude. Gratitude toward Tatiana, for her support especially since she became directly involved in July as an employee of Bread of Life, and for always being a strong advocate for better structure and growth.
And gratitude toward the Owoc Obfity Foundation in Warsaw, particularly in the person of Krzysztof Pimpicki, as well as several consultants and the five other NGO leaders with whom we embarked on an intensive mentoring trajectory aimed at organizational growth. Their insight and support have also had an accelerating effect.
The coming three months will be a challenge. Not only to make the transfer of my leadership role within Bread of Life as smooth as possible, but also to discover what plan God has for us. Are there new challenges within Evangelical Poland, where I have already been able to play a role with great fulfillment for many years? Or do entirely different opportunities lie ahead through the network I have been able to build over recent years? And how will Tatiana and I do this together, each with our own specific strengths?
Your prayers are deeply appreciated! And… we’ll keep you informed. 😊 The radio silence is over.
